Client Appreciation Event, 2009 "Suessical"

"You're great clients, there's no doubt,
You've put us on Cloud nine!
We thank you for your business supporting
Prout Financial Design!"

This was a magical evening decorated in the spirit of Dr. Suess with the Country Club back drop, making this my most unique event. We had music & dancing. We had dessert & cheer. It's been a rough year, some even asked for beer!

Do you believe in fairies?

If you don't, they will die. And we don't want fairies dying at a Dr. Suess event.
Start clapping!

Complete with Cake Flipping

Some dads beat up other dads - my dad flips cakes.
Get in line Letterman!

Sugar & spice & everything...financial?

I would like to think they came for the excellent entertainment & financial advice...but we know otherwise!

Center Pieces

Hand painted by...me! Efficient? Not quite. Perfect?
A few went missing, so I'm guessing, yes!

Thing One & Thing Two

Cary Paul said what?

You inspirate me, Mr. Prout
With inspiring money tales.
You're a super duper fella,
and you cure our money ales,
Mr. Prout!

Me Stressed? No. No. I'm fine!

The script read, "...and a few more than we planned" prophetic? possibly.

"Hey! Down front!"

Go ahead! Take the best seat in the house, YOUR house! Theatre rooms have become a common practice in the modern home. Yes, even YOU can have a theatre room (just ask me to design it!)
Thank you Vander Hoeks, your excellent taste made the transformation seamless.

From the back...

This exercise room has a new purpose...

Notice how nicely this sconce likes the grass cloth wallpaper. The light was finished with a car spray paint. The wallpaper was hung by a professional, do NOT try this at home!

The Brothers

Need I say more?

Bette

My client looks like Bette, so clearly, we had to put Bette on the wall. I don't think a sound panel can contain her personality or voice!

A Midsummer Celebration - Summer 2008

Why not spend summer soltice at the Frog Pond Village in Interlochen, Michigan? Why not have fairies & food? Why not celebrate with Shakespeare in the round & live music? We gathered 300 of our clients from Prout Financial Design last summer & it was a hit. Check out these images, I think they speak for themselves.

My First Blank Space

www.waaratechnologies.com
Todd Waara approached me in the fall of 2007 with a grand idea. He wanted to create a showroom that demonstrated his ability to bring to life home automation. I was intimidated by the empty space. How would I make a box look like a home? I had 3 years of sales experience in a furniture showroom, this however would take me to an entirely different level. So far comments made have been,

"Wow, can I just move in here?"

"I love those drapes, I need a plasma!"

and the best so far...

"Oops! Sorry I didn't mean to come in, didn't realize this was a home!"

Sound Panels

www.getmorris.com

Todd reminded me half way through creation that there would be sound panels - 4 to be exact. Sound panels? Seriously? What in the world does a designer do with massive sound panels? Well, thanks to my genius tendencies & artists at hand I was able to contract Mike Morris. He was able to bring back stars from the past. Be amazed!

The Bedroom

This odd shaped room was by far the biggest challenge! I went for loud hoping to distract from the odd space. On the dresser sits a framed plasma with a mirror screen - deception perfected! Women...you'll love this feature.

Kitchen by Wooden Hammer

Todd needed the perfect size kitchen for hosting parties & appeal. I think we managed to accomplish both! I was able to work with Wooden Hammer to translate my ideas. It's incredibly fulfilling to see them in 3D! The counter top resembles a chalk board with left over white chalk. The wood feels contemporary enough without feeling like you've left North Country & the slate floors were the best find at Home Depot. Oh the places you'll go!

Breakfast Booth

Why have a dining room table take up space? Look in your local paper for old booths. Or in my case, call the church to see if they are using theirs! The table top is made to match the kitchen cabinets & the mirror to add the illusion of a window. This space also doubles as meeting table for Todd to spread out blueprints. Notice the LCD mounted on the wall, tell me boys...isn't this better than a deer?

Living Room

This might be my favorite! I used curtains draped on the wall to create the illusion of windows. This space is completely enclosed. To add light we used cans in the ceiling, sconces on the wall and lamps galore! Not to mention, it's a nice effect when the plasma adds color & light. Furniture is Thomasville & Norwalk, purchased at The Bedroom Company.

Go ahead...take the lid off!

Welcome to my first blogspot! After deleting my facebook I needed something to fill the void. I wanted to create a place to showcase my work in event planning, interior design & retreat facilitation. An odd combination? A slight stretch? Let me explain...
